Right To Play Sports Quiz is a smashing success
The third Right To Play Sports Quiz took place on 10 May at The Grange, St Pauls. Hosted by broadcaster, John Inverdale, the Sports Quiz featured video questions from Athletics legend Allyson Felix and speed skating star Elise Christie. The generosity of our guests raised an incredible £265,000 towards our life-changing work, enabling over 8,000 children to take part in our play-based activities for a year.
Thirty-three teams representing many of the City's top firms competed in the challenging, but equally fun quiz. This year's Sports Quiz featured regular favourites including the picture round and a football themed game of Heads and Tails to mark this year’s World Cup.
Athlete Ambassador, Mike Tindall, also played against guests in a charity poker tournament at the end of the night.
Our Chairman, Simon Holden, spoke passionately about Right To Play’s gender work. Having seen our work first-hand Simon knows all too well that when you educate girls, you empower them and give them the opportunity to find success in life. A significant part of our fundraising is to support the pledge. Special thanks to the tables that came together to donate at £10,000+ (BC Partners, CPPIB, Delaney Brown Table 1, Hg, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett), £5,000+ (Oakley Capital) and £2,500+ (Apax Partners, Charterhouse Capital, Cinven, Delaney Brown Table 2, STAR Capital, Weil).
A huge thank you to all of the teams, quiz master, John Inverdale, sponsor PokerStars, the generous prize-donors and the Sports Quiz Committee for making the 2018 Right To Play Sport Quiz such an entertaining and successful event.
The funds raised at the Sports Quiz will give children, like Joanna, the opportunity to learn and get an education - that critical first step out of poverty.
