Supporters and stars from the world of sport came together for a special evening at The Right To Play Party 2018. Hosted by Chemmy Alcott at the impressive One Marylebone, guests celebrated the inspiring impact Right To Play’s work on the lives of the children in our programmes. Asha Mswala, One of our Right To Play teachers from Tanzania, received the Champion of Children Award for her outstanding coaching. A life-changing £241,417 was raised which will make a profound difference to the lives of children like Michael Paul, a young boy whose life Asha changed. If you would like to watch his uplifting story, see the video below.

Asha’s energy and commitment was inspirational and she played a starring role in the immersive musical experience with the Sounds of Change duo.

We know that children are among the most vulnerable and disenfranchised group of people in the world. For many of them, violence is an everyday reality. They are beaten, trafficked, starved, driven into slave labour, sexually abused, held as captives, tortured, forced to marry and give birth long before their young minds and bodies are ready for it. In some cases, their abuse is legal. And where laws do exist to stop this abuse, they are rarely enforced.

We want every child to have the chance to rise above these barriers that so often define their futures and to protect, educate and empower children to overcome adversity by harnessing the power of play. With your help we are doing this every day through amazing coaches like Asha.

A host of Right To Play’s Ambassadors and supporters were in attendance to show their support, including:

Chemmy Alcott- British former World Cup alpine ski racer and Host of Right To Play Party

James Ellington- British sprinter

Derek Redmond- retired British Athletics athlete

Shaun Lanard Gayle- former American football cornerback/safety in the NFL
