7 April 2026 - An update on programme operations in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank.

Right To Play is on the ground in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank — delivering psychosocial support and safe learning environments to children living through active conflict and displacement.

When schools close, routines disappear and safe spaces vanish. Children don't just need physical safety — they need structured support, trusted adults, and a sense of normalcy to recover and build resilience. That is what our teams deliver every day, even in the most constrained environments.

LEBANON

The humanitarian needs in Lebanon are significant. Over 600,000 people have been displaced, with more than 136,000 currently accommodated in official shelters. Children are experiencing heightened psychosocial stress, disrupted education, and loss of stability.

Right To Play has launched an emergency response in Lebanon. We moved quickly — activating and adapting existing partnerships and donor agreements to fund this response. We are now operating in eight emergency shelters, reaching over 1,000 children with psychosocial support (PSS) and safe spaces for play and learning.

Our goal is to reach 4,000 children aged 4–17, 100 young people who will help lead local emergency responses, and 1,000 families — approximately 2,000 caregivers — with basic assistance and PSS sessions.

We are working across three regions: South Lebanon (including Palestinian camps and UNRWA shelters), North Lebanon, and Mount Lebanon.

We are planning to expand our reach considerably in the coming weeks.

GAZA AND THE WEST BANK

In Gaza, humanitarian conditions remain extremely severe. Most families are displaced and living with limited access to shelter, water, and essential services. Continued insecurity and access constraints affect daily life and humanitarian response.

Despite this, programming continues through adapted approaches. Following a serious incident in March affecting one of our learning spaces and surrounding displacement sites, emergency response support was delivered, and psychosocial activities for children have resumed with ongoing follow-up.

In the West Bank, the protection environment has further deteriorated, with increased movement restrictions, insecurity, and disruptions affecting communities and access.

Our teams continue to operate remotely where needed, with field visits largely suspended and essential movement tightly controlled.

Across both contexts, we are maintaining continuity of support through local partners — prioritising psychosocial support, safe learning spaces, and consistent engagement with children under highly constrained conditions.

Our staff and partners in Gaza and the West Bank remain safe. The operating environment is highly volatile, and staff safety continues to guide all decisions.

Our commitment to children

Children must be protected. Right To Play calls for the safety of civilians and for humanitarian organisations to have safe and sustained access to deliver support. Right To Play will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves, and our response grows.

Flexible funding is critical. It allows us to respond as needs evolve, support local partners, and adapt responsibly across all three contexts. Donations directly enable emergency psychosocial support for children — structured activities that restore routine, build resilience, and help children cope with crisis.

Even in highly constrained environments, support is reaching children — but needs are growing. Across Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, we are working to reach as many children as possible with consistent, safe, and supportive programming.

Children in crisis should not face the emotional consequences of conflict alone. Your support ensures that they don't have to.
