After long and careful consideration, Right To Play is transitioning our programmatic expertise, including our methodology, resources, and learning, to local organisations in Thailand by the end of 2023.

This difficult decision reflects the shifting landscape in the country and its growing economy, alongside improvements in socio-economic well-being, which have resulted in better outcomes for children.

As we reach the end of this process, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at Right To Play Thailand and reflect on the transformation we've achieved in the region.

RIGHT TO PLAY’S OPERATIONS IN THAILAND

Since 2002, Right To Play Thailand has been dedicated to protecting, educating, and empowering children to rise above adversity through the power of play. Over the past 20 years, Right To Play has worked with thousands of children in urban Bangkok and more remote communities, providing safe and accessible areas for young people to play and learn, and equipping children who face hardship and adversity with crucial life skills such as leadership, self-confidence, communication, and resilience.

We are proud our accomplishments in Thailand, through the 12 projects we have implemented: ACBB, ASEAN, FAST, Side by Side, UP, Sport works Program, Southern Thailand Initiative, Play to Learn, Life Skills Development Program, Life Skills Education, Teacher Project and ACT.

We are deeply grateful for the support of our partners since 2002: Liverpool Football Club (LFC) Foundation, DKSH, Lacoste Foundation, CHEEWID, and DJOP Thailand, among many others. Their collaboration and shared vision have made these achievements possible. We are also grateful for the partnership of the local NGOs and international organisations that have played pivotal roles in shaping a better future for the children of Thailand.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated members of the Thailand Board of Directors and the tireless Thailand staff, coaches, and teachers.

A huge thank you to our partner organisations, the children who have touched our lives, and the inspiring young people who have played a pivotal role in shaping our journey in Thailand. Your unwavering support, passion, and commitment have been invaluable to us, and we are truly honoured to have shared this remarkable journey with every one of you.

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB (LFC) FOUNDATION

Right To Play and the LFC Foundation have been working together in Thailand since 2020 to train community coaches and empower young leaders to transform opportunities for disadvantaged children in urban Bangkok in the years to come.

We are incredibly proud of what we have been able to achieve through the partnership and are grateful to LFC Foundation and its commitment to now focus the partnership in other areas of high need. This includes enhancing and strengthening local community support for girls’ education in the Mara region of Tanzania, and our RECAF-Jeu programme in Senegal, which has been designed to empower girls to become changemakers in their lives and in their communities.
