Right To Play UK’s Sports Quiz 2024 raises more than £325k to support vulnerable children around the world
Right To Play UK’s eighth annual Sports Quiz took place at the Nobu Hotel in London on Thursday 21 November and raised more than £325,000 to support children around the world in our programmes, with pledges and donations still coming in!
This year's special event was once again sponsored by our long-time partner PokerStars, a Flutter International brand, and saw teams representing many of London’s top private equity and finance firms competing on the night for the Sports Quiz trophy.
Huge congratulations go to CBPE – our Sports Quiz 2024 winners! As ever, the competition in the room was fierce, with plenty of quizzing and bidding, alongside outstanding food. The event also highlighted the critical importance of play for children and the life-changing difference our programmes are making for vulnerable children.
Right To Play UK’s 2024 Sports Quiz was hosted by our fabulous quizmaster, John Inverdale.
Alongside more than 300 guests, a number of sporting heroes attended the special event and gave us their support, including LFC Legends Gary McAllister, Natasha Dowie, Chris Kirkland and Becky Easton; Right To Play Board member Chemmy Alcott; Tyrone Brennand; Shaunagh Brown; Vicky Gomersall; Giselle Gorringe; Darius Knight; Ollie Phillips; Grace Prendergast; Rebecca Scown and Thomas Young.
Gillian McMahon, Executive Director of Right To Play UK, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who supported our Sports Quiz and made this special event such a huge success. This incredible support is enabling us to change the lives of vulnerable children around the world – helping children to overcome trauma and discrimination, get back to learning and develop critical life skills, so they are empowered to reach their full potential. We look forward to welcoming our guests again at next year's event!”
A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including our sponsor PokerStars, our volunteer Sports Quiz Committee and our partners LFC Foundation, as well as all the competing teams who supported our work. The support given is helping Right To Play to transform the lives of more than 5.6 million children each year using the power of play.
