At the start of October, 44 Team Right To Play members took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon. It was a brilliant day, with perfect running conditions and some very impressive times were clocked, including a few personal bests. The event was also a huge fundraising success for our runners who collectively raised over £31,000.

The 44 runners included 16 employees from multi-asset alternative investment firm Bain Capital and nine employees from law firm Allen & Overy. Leo Harris was one of the runners who took part, and managed to raise an incredible £15,000 for Right To Play as part of the Cusco 2 Cusco team who cycled South America.

“I’m not sure anything in my life will be as hard as Cusco 2 Cusco, but the Royal Parks was hard and I reached a stage when I knew I was on for a personal best. It was just a case of getting my head down and aiming for the line. It was a fantastic day; perfect conditions and lots of Right To Play support,” said Leo.

“I’ve always played sport and you really appreciate how important it is for people’s lives, and how it can create both happiness and discipline in society and promote healthy wellbeing. The more sport gets promoted to people who don’t have the opportunity to experience and play it, the better. Right To Play is fantastic - it’s a very unique charity which operates across the world, not just one place. I think it’s an absolutely inspiring cause and it’s an honour to support it.”

The £31,000 total raised by this year’s Royal Parks runners smashed last year’s sum. The money raised this year is enough to help train 258 volunteer coaches to deliver our programmes reaching 7,740 children in weekly activities for a year.

This vital fundraising will help transform the lives of children in some of the poorest parts of the world so thank you for all your dedication, commitment and support.
