At Right To Play, it’s our mission to protect, educate and empower children to rise above adversity using the power of play.

We work with some of the world’s most vulnerable children, whose futures have been disrupted by war, exploitation and poverty. In 15 countries – including over 70 Indigenous communities in Canada – we’ve trained more than 32,000 teachers, youth workers and local volunteers to harness the power of play-based learning and engage children in programs that affect change in quality education, child protection, girls empowerment and health and well-being.

In 2021, we were able to reach 1.52 million children through safe in-person and remote activities and 11.2 million children through interactive radio and television programming in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Canada.

MEET SOLANGE & JAYDEN

Motherhood won’t stop Solange’s education…

At 13, Solange became pregnant against her will. By tradition in her Rwandan village, a baby meant she had to quit her studies. But with support from her mother and a Right To Play-trained teacher, once Solange’s son was old enough, she fought to return to school. Now 15, she’s back in class, has joined the Right To Play Leadership Club, is a role model for other girls facing barriers to education, and is a top student!

“Right To Play taught me that both boys and girls have a right to go to school.”

Jayden found confidence & himself …

Jayden, 17, from Lower Similkameen Indian Band in B.C., was a shy, anxious pre-teen, struggling to make connections when he started attending the Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program. Now, with the skills and confidence, he’s built, he’s mentoring other youth to help them unlock their own potential.

“I’ve become more of myself, more me, and I’m proud of who I am.”
