We are excited to release our 2024–26 Strategic Plan, which outlines our strong and continued commitment to protecting, educating, and empowering children to rise above adversity through the power of play.

Children today are growing up in the midst of compounding local and global crises. Conflict, climate change, and economic instability threaten children’s learning and well-being, and put their safety and futures at risk.

For 25 years, we’ve offered play-based programs that respond to children’s needs in both humanitarian and development contexts. Our Strategic Plan lays out how we plan to build on that track record to ensure this generation of children and youth can stay in school and learn, overcome prejudice, heal from trauma, and develop the skills they need to thrive.

2024-26 STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

Our vision is to support millions more children to learn and develop through play by 2030 so that they can experience a safe and joyful childhood and grow into thriving adults. Our 2024-26 Strategic Plan is an important step in achieving that vision.

2024-26 priorities

In 2024-26 we will:

  • Elevate children and young people's learning and well-being through play;
  • Build evidence on the impact of play in order to influence policy and systems;
  • Scale impact through partnership, collaboration, and innovation;
  • Deliver programs that respond to a rapidly changing world and climate;
  • Focus on growth by deepening and diversifying funding;
  • Invest in our people and strengthen organizational effectiveness and impact.

Three key principles will guide our work

  • Putting children and young people at the centre of our work, learning from them, and amplifying their voices and experiences;
  • Being guided by the needs and expertise of local communities and partners;
  • Upholding our commitment to learning and evaluation to ensure that our programming continues to meet the needs of children in a rapidly changing world.

2024-26 PROGRAM FOCUS

We’ll support children from early childhood to adolescence to improve their learning and well-being so they can reach their full potential.

Where we work-wider

Core Program Areas

  • Early childhood care and education: Providing young children with high-quality and playful early learning, laying the foundation for success in school and in life;
  • Primary education: Ensuring that more primary school-aged children, especially girls, have an enriched learning experience and leave school with improved literacy skills;
  • Gender equality and girls’ well-being: Provide girls and young women with leadership opportunities and engage youth in challenging harmful gender norms that limit girls’ potential;
  • Psychosocial support: Providing children, including refugee and displaced children, with psychosocial support to help them cope with trauma and help them get back to learning.
