Andrea Diaz-Varela

Andrea Diaz-Varela is the Director of Education at Right To Play headquarters in Toronto, Canada. She provides global leadership and oversight for Right To Play’s education portfolio, including strategic program planning, development and country support. Andrea has particular expertise in education in low-resource contexts and situations of violence and conflict. Sub-specialties include designing resilience fostering approaches and programming for social emotional learning through sports and play. Since 2008, Andrea has worked with several organizations as an education technical specialist including World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF, INEE, among others. Andrea holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford in International and Comparative Education with a dissertation on global standards for education in emergencies.
